Congressional Research Service Reports - AUR Library Information Wiki The Congressional Research Service (CRS) is the public policy branch of the U.S. Congress. It is comprised of professional researchers who provide up to date research for the members of the U.S. Congress. These reports are written from an unbiased viewpoint to give the Congressperson the best and most complete information so they can vote in the best way possible.

As official U.S. government documents, these reports are part of the public domain (see Intellectual property and Copyright for information on the public domain), but they have always been difficult to get, since the mandate of the CRS does not include dissemination to the public. Many of these reports are available electronically through depository institutions, primarily university libraries.

The University of North Texas Libraries has made an excellent site where you can search and browse many of the reports.

You can also browse the list at the U.S. Embassy in Rome, selected by the librarians there. All of those CRS reports are available electronically.
